Buddy system for opioid recovery: peer coaches may boost treatment success

Summary
This study looks at whether adding a peer recovery coach to standard medication treatment (buprenorphine) helps people with opioid use disorder stay in treatment longer. About 15 adults in a Philadelphia primary care clinic will receive both medication and regular support from a trained peer for 180 days. Researchers will track how long participants remain in treatment and check their opioid use, medication adherence, and coping skills.
