Can recovered peers help others beat addiction in rural america?

NCT ID NCT05973838

Summary

This study is testing whether a counseling program delivered by trained peers—people with their own past experience of addiction and recovery—can help patients stick with their medication treatment for opioid use disorder and reduce their use of other drugs. The program is designed for people in underserved rural areas who are receiving treatment via telemedicine. Researchers will compare this peer support program to standard care over 12 months to see which is more effective.
