Veterans helping veterans: peers lead therapy to improve daily life
NCT ID NCT03467243
Summary
This study tested whether two types of therapy groups, focused on improving thinking patterns and social skills, could be effectively led by 'Peer Specialists'—people who have personal experience recovering from serious mental illness. The goal was to see if this approach could make these helpful therapies more widely available to Veterans. Researchers compared these peer-led groups to standard care to see which was better at improving quality of life, daily functioning, and recovery.
