First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study tests a peer advocacy training program called Game Changers for Family Planning in Uganda. The program trains women who already use modern contraception to encourage others in their social networks to also use contraception. The study will enroll 192 participants and measure whether the program increases contraception use and advocacy skills. It is a small early-stage trial focused on feasibility and preliminary effectiveness.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
peer advocacy training (behavioral intervention)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a low-cost, community-driven way to increase contraception use and reduce unintended pregnancies in Uganda.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study (192 participants) testing feasibility and early effects, so results may not be generalizable. The intervention relies on peer volunteers, which may be hard to sustain long-term.
