Eye-Opening study: lung pressure during surgery may signal brain changes
NCT ID NCT06979999
First seen Jun 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at 34 adults having gallbladder surgery to see if a specific lung ventilation setting (called PEEP) changes the size of the optic nerve sheath, which can indicate brain pressure. Researchers measured the nerve with ultrasound at three points during surgery. The goal was to understand how surgical pressures affect the brain, not to treat a disease.
