Coaching clinics to spot At-Risk teens could save lives
NCT ID NCT06619782
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether giving primary care clinics extra coaching and support helps them better use a suicide prevention program for youth ages 12-24. 360 participants will be split into two groups: one gets basic training, the other gets training plus 6 months of hands-on coaching. Researchers will track how often clinics screen for suicide risk and whether coached clinics see fewer suicide attempts and better mental health follow-up.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Practice facilitation (coaching and support for clinics)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that extra coaching helps clinics better identify and support youth at risk for suicide, potentially reducing suicide attempts.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage implementation study, not a treatment trial. Results may not apply to all clinics, and the coaching may not lead to lasting changes or lower suicide rates.
