Global hunt for early clues to Kids' kidney crisis
NCT ID NCT01987921
Summary
This large international study aimed to better understand and predict acute kidney injury (AKI) in children who are critically ill. Researchers observed over 5,000 children in intensive care units worldwide to see if a scoring system called 'renal angina' and certain urine tests could spot which children were most at risk for severe kidney problems. The goal was to gather information to help doctors diagnose and manage this serious condition earlier.
