Spit test for sick kids? researchers hunt for easier way to track severe lung disease

NCT ID NCT07380373

Summary

This study aims to see if a simple saliva test can provide the same information as a more invasive lung fluid test in children with severe breathing failure (ARDS). Researchers will measure inflammation markers in both saliva and lung fluid from 37 children to see if they match and if they can predict how severe the illness will be, how long the hospital stay will last, or the risk of death. The goal is to find easier ways to monitor this serious condition.
