Can a special cookie fight muscle wasting in seniors?
NCT ID NCT07356440
Summary
This study is testing whether eating biscuits enriched with pea protein and taking a vitamin D supplement can help slow down sarcopenia, the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength. For 12 weeks, 74 older adults (ages 65-75) with sarcopenia will eat either the special biscuit with vitamin D or a regular biscuit with a placebo oil. Researchers will measure changes in muscle strength, mass, physical performance, and gut bacteria to see if the nutritional approach helps.
