Fever no barrier? new study tests pneumonia shot in sick adults

Summary
This study looks at whether giving the 20-valent pneumococcal vaccine (PCV-20) to adults while they have a fever works just as well as waiting until they are healthy. About 1052 adults at medium or high risk for pneumococcal disease will take part. The goal is to see if vaccinating during an acute febrile illness is safe and produces a strong immune response, which could help increase vaccination rates.
