New app aims to stop common meds from turning a cold into a crisis

NCT ID NCT06433414

Summary

This study is testing a mobile app called PAUSE, designed to help people with chronic conditions like diabetes or heart disease manage their medications safely when they get sick with something like the flu. Common medications for these conditions can sometimes cause dangerous side effects during an illness. The app, linked to a user's pharmacy record, guides them on which pills to temporarily pause. Researchers will compare the app plus an educational handout to just the handout alone to see which helps people follow safety rules better during a simulated 'sick day'.
