First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tests a mobile app that gives people with diabetes, heart disease, or kidney disease simple instructions on when to temporarily stop certain medications during illnesses like the flu or stomach bug. The goal is to prevent serious side effects such as dangerously low blood sugar or kidney damage. About 320 adults from 16 pharmacies in Alberta will take part, with half using the app plus a handout and half receiving only the handout. The study will check if the app helps people follow sick-day medication guidelines correctly.
