Patients take control: Self-Admission program aims to reduce forced psychiatric care

NCT ID NCT04862897

Summary

This study is testing whether letting patients with severe mental health conditions admit themselves to the hospital when needed works better than the current system where doctors make all admission decisions. Researchers will follow 564 patients in Stockholm who can use this self-admission option, comparing them to similar patients who don't have this choice. The goal is to see if patient-controlled admissions reduce forced treatments, improve quality of life, and give patients more control over their care.
