First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested a technique called patellar denervation, where doctors use heat to burn nerves around the kneecap during total knee replacement. The goal was to see if it reduces pain and improves knee function after surgery. 64 adults aged 55-85 with knee osteoarthritis took part. Results may help surgeons decide whether to add this step to standard knee replacement.
