Major trial tests vitamin pill to halt Parkinson's progression
NCT ID NCT03568968
Summary
This large, completed study tested whether a daily supplement called nicotinamide riboside (a form of vitamin B3) could slow down the worsening of early Parkinson's disease. Over 400 people with recently diagnosed Parkinson's took either the supplement or a placebo pill for a full year while continuing their standard medications. Researchers measured changes in symptoms, brain scans, and quality of life to see if the supplement made a difference.
