Heart drug tested to halt Parkinson's before symptoms start

NCT ID NCT04218968

Summary

This study is testing whether a medication called carvedilol, commonly used for heart conditions and high blood pressure, can slow down the brain changes that lead to Parkinson's disease. It involves 15 people who are at high risk for Parkinson's because they have a specific sleep disorder and other early warning signs. Researchers will use brain scans over three years to see if the drug helps preserve brain function and delays the onset of movement problems.
