New wearable device aims to unfreeze Parkinson's patients in their tracks
NCT ID NCT07542743
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This trial tests the ParkinSense system, a body-worn device that detects freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease and delivers personalized cues to help patients start walking again. Sixty participants will first use the device in a lab, then at home for two weeks. The main goal is to see if the device reduces the time spent frozen.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ParkinSense System (wearable device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a noninvasive tool to help Parkinson's patients move more freely and reduce freezing episodes.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study with only 60 participants, and the device is tested in a controlled lab and short home use. It may not work for all patients or in real-world conditions.
