Letting parents join NICU rounds boosts care quality, study finds

NCT ID NCT05717075

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a simple change: letting parents join medical rounds in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). For two weeks, parents of 46 babies were included in daily discussions with doctors and nurses. The goal was to see if this improved how parents felt about the care, reduced their anxiety, and strengthened bonding with their baby. The results suggest that including parents in rounds can improve family-centered care and communication.
