Summary

This study tested a virtual, group-based parenting program called 'Tuning in to Kids' for parents of children aged 3 to 6 with congenital heart disease. The goal was to see if the program was easy to use and helpful for parents. Thirty-nine parents took part in online surveys, weekly sessions, and interviews. The focus was on whether parents found the program acceptable and whether it improved their child's emotional and behavioral wellbeing.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Tuning in to Kids (a behavioral parenting program)

What this could lead to

If successful, this program could offer a practical, home-based way for parents to support their child's emotional health after heart surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early feasibility study with only 39 participants. It measures parent satisfaction and participation, not direct child outcomes, so benefits are uncertain.
