Cancer pain study questions need for extra paracetamol pills
NCT ID NCT05051735
First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at whether cancer patients already taking strong opioids (like morphine) still need paracetamol for pain relief. About 200 adults with advanced cancer who were on both drugs were randomly assigned to either keep taking paracetamol or switch to a placebo. The goal was to see if stopping paracetamol made pain worse or caused more side effects. The results help doctors decide if the burden of taking eight extra pills daily is worthwhile.
