Numbing injection may ease pain after pelvic surgery, new trial aims to prove it

NCT ID NCT07440576

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether a numbing injection (paracervical block) given during prolapse surgery can lower pain right after the procedure. About 58 women having surgery for pelvic organ prolapse will be randomly assigned to get either the numbing medicine or a placebo. Researchers will measure pain levels and how much pain medicine is needed in the first 24 hours after surgery.
