Heart attack patients may ditch aspirin: new trial tests safer drug combo

Summary
This study tests whether using only the blood thinner ticagrelor (instead of the usual aspirin plus ticagrelor) can lower bleeding risks in people who had a heart attack but did not get stents or bypass surgery. About 2,570 adults will be followed for 12 months to see if the single-drug approach is safer without raising the chance of another heart attack, stroke, or death. The goal is to find a treatment that controls the disease with fewer side effects.
