Shorter antibiotics after pancreas surgery? mayo clinic tests new approach
NCT ID NCT04329039
Summary
This study is testing whether a shorter course of antibiotics combined with a medication called octreotide works as well as longer antibiotics after pancreatic surgery. Researchers want to see if this approach reduces hospital stays and prevents a common complication called pancreatic fistula. The trial involves 103 adults considered at intermediate to high risk who are undergoing a specific pancreatic surgery called the Whipple procedure.
