Early trial tests unusual combo against tough pancreatic cancer
NCT ID NCT02336087
Summary
This early-stage study is testing the safety and feasibility of combining standard chemotherapy drugs with a diabetes medication (metformin) and a specific blend of dietary supplements in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer that cannot be surgically removed. The goal is to see if this multi-part approach is tolerable and to gather initial information on whether it might help control the cancer. The study enrolled a small group of 21 participants to first understand side effects and how well patients can follow the complex regimen.
