Radical surgery trial aims to outsmart deadly pancreatic cancer complication
NCT ID NCT06801899
Summary
This study is testing whether removing the entire pancreas is better than removing just part of it for patients with cancer in the head of the pancreas who are at high risk of a dangerous leak after surgery. Researchers will randomly assign 170 patients to receive either the standard partial removal or the total removal, then carefully track their survival, quality of life, and complications. The goal is to see if taking out the whole pancreas improves survival without making life worse, especially now that modern diabetes technology can help manage blood sugar.
