Blood test vs. needle biopsy: new hope for pancreatic cancer diagnosis?

NCT ID NCT02072616

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study aimed to see if a blood test could detect pancreatic cancer by finding circulating tumor cells (CTCs) or tumor DNA, potentially avoiding the need for invasive biopsies. Researchers planned to compare the blood test results with standard tissue sampling in 101 adults with non-metastatic pancreatic tumors. The study was terminated early, so its final conclusions are limited.
