Heavy ion beams target deadly pancreatic tumors in new trial

NCT ID NCT04194268

Summary

This study tested a new type of radiation therapy using carbon ions for people with pancreatic cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. It aimed to see if this advanced radiation is more effective than the current standard photon radiation at controlling the tumor and helping patients live longer. The trial involved 25 participants and closely monitored their survival, side effects, and quality of life.
