New care model aims to ease suffering for leukemia patients

NCT ID NCT02975869

Summary

This study tested whether adding a palliative care team to standard cancer treatment could improve the experience for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Palliative care specialists focus on managing symptoms and providing emotional support. The trial involved 160 hospitalized patients with high-risk AML to see if this combined approach led to better quality of life, less distress, and improved end-of-life care.
