Can we wake and kill sleeping breast cancer cells before they return?

NCT ID NCT04841148

First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study is for people with early-stage ER+ breast cancer who still have dormant (sleeping) cancer cells in their bone marrow after surgery and standard therapy. Researchers will test two drugs—avelumab (an immunotherapy) and hydroxychloroquine—alone or combined with palbociclib, to see if they can clear these hidden cells and lower the risk of cancer coming back. About 96 participants will be enrolled to check safety and early effectiveness.
