Kids' teeth study maps palate changes after expander treatment

NCT ID NCT06522607

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at how the shape of the roof of the mouth changes in 36 children with a cross-bite (where upper teeth sit inside lower teeth) after using a rapid palatal expander. The children have different face growth patterns (high, normal, or low angle). Researchers will take 3D scans of the teeth before and after treatment to map these changes. The goal is to understand how the expander works for different face types, not to test a new treatment.
