Knee surgery study aims to cut urinary complications without increasing pain

NCT ID NCT07050277

Summary

This study is testing two ways to manage pain after repeat knee replacement surgery. It compares a standard method that includes a spinal morphine injection to a method that uses only targeted nerve blocks. The goal is to see if the nerve-block-only approach provides similar pain relief while reducing the common side effect of urinary retention, which can require a catheter and increase infection risk.
