New nerve block may cut opioid use after knee surgery

NCT ID NCT06952556

First seen Mar 13, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding an extra nerve block (called IPACK) to a standard one (adductor canal block) can better control pain and reduce the need for strong painkillers after knee surgery. About 100 adults having specific knee procedures will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard block alone or the standard block plus the extra one. The main goal is to see how much opioid medication they need in the first 24 hours after surgery.
