New pain protocol aims to ease recovery for kids after heart surgery
NCT ID NCT06626035
Summary
This study is testing a new, standardized pain management plan for children recovering from heart surgery. It compares a methadone-based recovery plan against the current standard care to see which provides better pain relief with fewer side effects like nausea, breathing problems, or long-term opioid use. About 500 children aged 3 to 18 will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups.
