Numbing injection before hysterectomy may ease Post-Op pain
NCT ID NCT05969457
First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether injecting a local anesthetic (ropivacaine) into the vagina before making the first cut for a hysterectomy can lower pain after surgery. About 108 adults having a hysterectomy for non-cancer reasons will be randomly assigned to receive either the anesthetic or a placebo (salt water) while under general anesthesia. The main goal is to see if the numbing shot leads to less pain in the hours after the operation.
