Pre-Surgery pain pill could cut need for stronger drugs

NCT ID NCT07320781

Summary

This study tested whether giving a pain medication called tapentadol before breast cancer surgery could reduce the amount of strong painkillers (like morphine) needed during and after the operation. It involved 70 patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery. Half received the study drug before surgery, and half received a placebo, to compare their pain medication needs.
