Freezing nerves vs. catheters: new study seeks better pain relief for broken ribs

NCT ID NCT06347874

Summary

This study is testing which of two pain control methods works better for adults with multiple broken ribs. Researchers will compare freezing the nerves near the ribs (cryoablation) to placing a pain medication catheter in the back. The main goal is to see which method provides better pain relief one week after the procedure and reduces the need for opioid painkillers.
