Hope for millions: light and physiotherapy may tame pelvic pain

NCT ID NCT06660212

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether light therapy (photobiomodulation) and/or specialized physiotherapy can reduce pain in women with provoked vestibulodynia, a common cause of pain during sex or tampon use. About 240 Canadian women will receive one of four treatments over 14 weeks, and researchers will track pain levels, sexual function, and quality of life for up to a year. The goal is to find effective, non-drug options for this often-underdiagnosed condition.
