Summary

This study tested whether adding a calming drug called dexmedetomidine to standard pain medication could improve pain control after lung surgery. It involved 102 men who were heavy smokers and were having a specific type of lung surgery for the first time. Researchers compared three groups to see which pain relief method worked best and was safest over the first few days after the operation.
