First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at whether combining two types of nerve blocks (recto-intercostal and pecto-intercostal) can better control pain after open-heart surgery. Forty adults having heart surgery through a breastbone incision received these ultrasound-guided injections. The goal was to see if the blocks reduce pain scores and improve overall recovery in the first 24 hours after surgery.
