Summary
This study compared two non-opioid medications (dexmedetomidine and lidocaine) given during surgery to reduce pain after gallbladder removal. Researchers tested which medication better controlled pain while minimizing the need for opioid painkillers after surgery. The trial involved 64 adults undergoing laparoscopic gallbladder surgery in a randomized, double-blind study design.
