Summary

This study tested two methods of giving a nerve block (erector spinae plane block) to manage pain after lumbar spinal fusion surgery. 52 adults received either an ultrasound-guided or a surgeon-placed block using a mix of numbing medicine and dexmedetomidine. The goal was to see which method provides better pain relief and reduces the need for opioids.
