One shot to beat the pain: new study tests simpler option after ankle surgery
NCT ID NCT06995352
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tests if a single injection of a long-lasting painkiller (liposomal bupivacaine) works as well as a continuous nerve block (a tube delivering pain medicine for days) for pain after ankle surgery. About 140 adults having painful ankle surgery will be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. The goal is to see if the simpler injection can provide similar pain relief and reduce the need for opioids, without the extra equipment and hassle of a continuous pump.
