Can a video help moms soothe baby pain? new study tests education methods

NCT ID NCT07660159

First seen Jun 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026

Summary

This study looked at two ways of teaching new mothers how to comfort their babies during heel prick blood tests. One group got verbal instructions plus a brochure, the other got verbal instructions plus an AI-supported video. Researchers measured mothers' anxiety, how well they used non-drug pain relief methods, and the baby's pain level. The goal was to see which teaching method works better for both mom and baby.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that simple education methods help mothers reduce their baby's pain during routine procedures.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study with 75 mothers, so results may not apply to all families. It compares education methods, not a treatment.
