First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding two extra nerve blocks to a standard one can better control pain from chest drains after heart surgery. 180 adults having planned heart surgery through the breastbone took part. The goal was to see if these extra blocks reduce pain at the drain site and lower the need for strong painkillers.
