New nerve block technique tested for thyroid surgery pain relief

NCT ID NCT06974630

Summary

This study compared two different nerve block techniques for controlling pain after thyroid removal surgery. Researchers tested a newer method (erector spinae plane block) against a more established one (cervical plexus block) in 40 patients. The goal was to see which approach better reduces pain and the need for strong pain medications during recovery.
