New pain block could cut opioid need after weight loss surgery

NCT ID NCT06515691

Summary

This study is testing a specific nerve-blocking injection to see if it can better manage pain after a common weight loss surgery. The goal is to reduce how much strong opioid pain medication patients need in the first day after their operation, which could help them recover faster with fewer side effects. Researchers will compare pain levels and medication use in 60 patients who receive the new nerve block versus standard care.
