Nerve block could ease agony of heart surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT06908681

Summary

This study tested if a special nerve-block injection given before open-heart bypass surgery could help control pain afterward. 76 patients were randomly assigned to receive either the real nerve-block medicine or a placebo saline injection. Researchers measured patients' pain levels, their need for strong opioid painkillers, and their overall recovery quality in the first 24 hours after surgery.
