New injection could ease agony after major heart surgery

NCT ID NCT07164677

Summary

This study is testing whether a new type of nerve block, injected near the shoulder blade, can better manage pain and reduce the need for strong opioid painkillers in the first day after open-heart surgery. Researchers will compare pain levels and medication use in 50 patients who receive the real nerve block versus a sham (fake) injection. The goal is to find a safer, more effective way to control post-surgery pain and improve recovery.
