New pain shot could cut opioid need after cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT06575699

Summary

This study tested a long-acting numbing injection in the abdomen to manage pain after major surgery for gynecologic cancers. It compared this new approach to the standard method of using an epidural catheter for pain control. The main goal was to see if the injection could reduce the total amount of opioid pain medication patients needed in the first three days after their operation.
