First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special nerve block (intertransverse process block) could reduce pain after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) through the breastbone. 76 adults were randomly assigned to receive either the nerve block or a placebo injection before surgery. Researchers measured pain scores, opioid use, and recovery quality in the first 24 hours after breathing tube removal.
